Bob Davidson & Nigel Stawart
Bob and Nigel are regulars on the North East blues scene with their band The Hookahs or as a two piece going by the name of The Djooks. They've been involved in many projects over the years including recording bands Splitcrow and the Red Dogs.
A mixture of Blues,Tex-Mex, Soul and self-penned music is the staple of their set.
In the words of a musically satisfied fan
Their music is “...smokin’ but cool!”
Jack is rapidly making a name for himself in the north east and word will no doubt spread quickly. His guitar work is exceptional and has led to him playing with/supporting the likes of Steve Thompson, Geordie and Danny Vaughan. With one ep already in the bag Jack is currently working and collaborating with Steve Thompson on his first album. Give his track 'You Lied to Me' a listen. The song was co-written with Pete Rea specially for NEBlues, and look out for his live performances.
Bob Barton has been a stalwart of the local and national music scene since his band Beckett made their first appearance on the Old Grey Whistle Test back in the 70's. Since then Bob has worked at the highest level with people like Alan Hull, Ray Jackson, Bert Jansch and The Human League to name but a few. It was a privilege to have Bob play some fantastic lead guitar on 'One Hundred Times The Pain' which was recorded specially for NEBlues. The track also features Mark May and of course the house band.
Mark is another great addition to the NEBlues family and if you want some proof listen to his amazing vocal performance on 'One Hundred Times the Pain'. He's a frequent performer in the region with his band Sideline, purveyors of some great vintage rock and blues. Catch them when you can!
